Welcome from our Centennial Basileus!

Greetings from Alpha Beta Sigma | Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

ABS was chartered May 4, 1949.  During our Centennial Year, in the months of July and November 1922, our membership grew over 50 percent; we established our ABS Rhoer Affiliate Club and chartered our ABS Philo Affiliate Club. Collectively, we are 81 members strong.

Alpha Beta Sigma aims to enhance the quality of life within the community through: public service, leadership development, and education of youth.
ABS is determined to uplift our community through our national programs and initiatives such as: Operation Big Book Bag, Project Cradle Care, Women’s Wellness, Youth Symposium, SWIM1922, Social Action, St. Jude Hospitals, and March of Dimes. In addition, ABS provides scholarships to seniors graduating from high schools in the Greater Tidewater Area.

ABS is committed to support the community, develop leadership characteristics for its members, provide service to the community and build life-long relationships.

We are thankful for all your support and interest in Alpha Beta Sigma | Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter.  We invite you to unite with us as we serve our community through “Greater Service, Greater Progress”.

Best Regards,
